My Graphic Design Work

Some of my favorite work I’ve done was the marketing & branding designs I developed and executed for Cotton+Steel and RJR Fabrics.

As the Senior Marketing Designer & Social Media Manager, I helped manage brand consistency and develop impactful marketing materials for every fabric collection.

Layout Designs

Each season of new fabric collections calls for new set of collection catalogs, vendor forms, and other branded marketing materials that I helped design and update.

The collection catalogs feature over 50 pages of collection graphics and marketing information for the newest fabric collections, along with supporting sales information and details about coordinating C+S Sulky Threads, sewing notions, and project inspiration.

Using each season’s collections as inspiration, I created covers & page templates that clearly displayed the new fabrics, promoted the collection and included important marketing information, such as SKU numbers, pre-cut package details, and collection projects.

Package Design

Every fabric collection is cut and packaged into pre-cut bundles, including 2.5” jelly roll strips, 5” x 5” charm packs, 10” x 10” layer cakes, and fat quarter bundles, that came with tailored packaging and label designs.

The pre-cut package tags & labels prominently feature the collection logo and other essential details, such as, the collection name, fabric designer, pre-cut quantity and cut, while also following brand guidelines for each collaborating fabric designer.

C+S and RJR Fabrics both worked with a wide range of illustrators and designers that each provided their brand guidelines that I made sure to adhere to while designing their assets.

Social Media Design

Along with printed materials, I also helped manage & develop digital assets for each collection used in social media.

I created & helped art direct eye-catching content like graphics, slideshows, photography, animated GIFs, and more, that highlighted the collection and each fabric design and colorway.

Each new fabric collection gets promoted and marketed using a set of clear and informative graphics, including fabric slideshows, artists’ bios, promotional fabric photos, and detailed imagery of finished collection projects.

Check out the images below to see an example of the IG post I creative directed for the Garden & Globe fabric collection.

This post was for a collection that ended up being released during the pandemic. I used the unique situation we were in as inspiration for a promotional sewing project post & found a project that helped showcase the fabric, and, also connected with our customers.

Along with art directing the photography, I also wrote and edited informative and approachable captions & included any project links in the brands’ bio.

Above are a few of the animated graphics I made for special C+S Fabrics events & promotions.

Newsletter Design

I created announcement newsletters introducing the featured artists and their designs for each new fabric collection.

Every newsletter included a system of images, including a header image, fabric swatches, pre-cuts, and project mock-ups for inspiration.

Website Design

As the lead designer for the marketing team, I was in charge of creating & managing collection graphics and information for both C+S and RJR’s websites.

In addition to images of fabric swatches, I ensured that all collection banners, project mock-ups, and coordinating basics were included, providing a cohesive and visually appealing presentation each season.

I also help develop website icons, color palette, font choices and other website design decisions alongside the site developer.

Market & Event Production

I led all preparation for Quilt Market & QuiltCon events which insured that the booth build out and event ran smoothly from start to finish.

Using a to-scale digital files, I helped develop booth concepts, create designed assets, order, ship, and organize all elements required to create impactful interactive marketing moments.

I also created supporting limited edition merchandise that was created specifically for promotional giveaways and other fun freebies for our customers and consumers, like tote bags and sewing project kits.

Branding Design

After several years working closely with the original Cotton+Steel design team, I was invited to develop the updated C+S logo for the new quarterly collection concept, Around The World.

The “Around The World” rebrand also included designing coordinating content for social media, newsletters, and printed materials, significantly boosting brand awareness and helping ease of sales.

Having the opportunity to collaborate & design so many thoughtfully designed branding assets for so many beautiful fabric collections has been some of my favorite graphic design work I’ve gotten to make!
